The Earth of Capricorn is structure: the rock solidity of what doesn’t budge, and the clay malleability of what can be given shape. Under the rule of the encircled planet Saturn, Capricorn has added order to the natural laws of the earth and fenced off a corner of nature to produce a sustaining garden. In the wisdom of her old age and experience, she protects us from the danger of falling off the cliff’s edge, by setting a constructed boundary at a safe distance from the natural one. When her restrictions extend to the sky, however, she limits her horizon, and we feel her rules to be stifling rather than guiding.
